Dashers Sign Top Three Picks

*Press Release*

September 9, 2013

The Danville Dashers are pleased to announce that their top three draft picks from this year’s FHL Free Agent Camp have signed and will be in uniform for the 2013-2014 season.

The Dashers have signed forwards Matthew Dietrich and Roman Andrejev, they have also signed defensemen Greg Prazych.

Dietrich and Andrejev are going to be a great addition to the Dasher forward corps. Dietrich is a 6’0 190lb forward from Hamilton, NJ who according to Dasher coach Mike Chighisola is incredibly fast on the ice. “I watched him just skate by defensemen without having to make moves, he’s smart, moves the puck well and has a nose for the net." Dietrich could be looked to as a first or second line guy. Andrejev is another forward the Dashers are expecting big things from. Andrejev is from Narva, Estonia and is 6’1 and 205lbs. “Roman is quite the specimen, he’s big, strong and exceptionally smart out there,he has a great shot and is strong on his skates, he has a mean side too and he should handle himself well in this league,” said Chighisola. The Dashers have brought back some forwards from the past year to go along with some new guys and the transition should be easy. “I believe the new guys will fit right in to our system here, the best thing is they are young and hungry to prove themselves in Pro hockey, these are the guys I like, they are self- motivated and want to get better every day, plus I have seen Dietrich and Andrejev mix it up, and they handle themselves very well,” said Chighisola.

On the blueline the Dashers added Greg Prazych. Prazych, is 6’2 200lb defensemen who is from Saratoga Springs, New York. Greg played at the University of Albany and the Dashers are excited to have Greg on board. “Greg is big and smart on the ice, he has a great first pass, plays physical and takes calculated chances,” Chighisola said. Prazych joins Joe Pace and Ryan Huggett on the defensive side. “I think with Pacer and Huggy,  Greg will learn the system and adapt right away, I loved the way he moved the puck and he was consistent in his play, he’s got a wing span for a reach and guys have to go a long way to get around him,” said Chighisola.

The Dashers have a “Free Agent Camp” on October 18th and 19th and their Main Camp will begin on October 21st. The team is starting to take shape and things are definitely looking positive, so stay tuned for more developments.
